As summer draws near, we all begin to
think of outdoor activities. We dream of a wonderful summer
vacation. Some families like to take long trips to faraway places, while
others like to stay close to home. This summer, your dad only gets weekends
off-so you will not be able to take a long vacation, but your family wants to go
somewhere fun. Together, your family has decided that Palo Duro Canyon
would be a fun place to go.
Your parents have decided to let you plan a weekend vacation for your family. There are 4 people in your family. Your family has saved $350.00 for this trip. You will write a plan for your parents to prove that you have enough money for the weekend in Palo Duro Canyon. You will make a chart or table to show how the money will be spent.
1. Use a map to find the distance from Friona to Palo Duro Canyon.
2. Your car gets 20 miles
per gallon of gas. How many gallons of gas will you need for
the trip?
3. At $1.60 per gallon, how much money will you need for gas?
4. You want to spend the night in a cabin in the canyon. How much will this cost?
5. You want to see the play TEXAS. How much will this cost?
6. There is a barbeque before the play. How much will this cost for the family?
7. If you do all of these things,
how much money will you have for breakfast and
lunch
on Sunday?
8. Go to the gift shop and buy some souvenirs.
9 How much money did you spend?
10. How much money do you have left?
